In a final fit of trying, I went back to the good ol' interwebz and downloaded loopMIDI, another virtual MIDI cable driver, and ran the exact same set of tests, only to find identical results.
It worked perfectly from each application sent-but of course Sfortzando's sounds can't rival Kontakt's (I keep the application around in case I need something super-duper low latency) and at this point I had completely stopped caring about getting good sound out of Sibelius and simply started caring about why the hell Kontakt wasn't taking any pedal data. I then decided to send the MIDI to another application-this time Plogue Sfortzando-to see what happened to the pedal there. Next I tested it out of MIDITrail with the same problem. Naturally I figured this must be a problem with Sibelius, so I exported a MIDI, loaded it up in MIDIBar, and sent it to Kontakt from there. I changed the instrument in Kontakt just to see if something terrible had happened, but nothing changed there. I installed, works perfectly-the MIDI goes wherever I tell it to from any application.īut I found something strange-when I played back my piece in Sibelius, all the pedal off data disappeared, causing all the notes to just sorta be sustained forever. So I've been notating a piano piece in Sibelius 7, and I got really tired of a crappy piano synth (I was using Weeds GM bank with BassMIDI), so I decided "Hey, why don't I just shlep MIDI from Sibelius into Kontakt with some really nice sounding piano? That'll work well!" So I went to the interwebz and found myself LoopBe1, a virtual MIDI cable driver.
